It was the first meeting of "The Send"(https://thesend.org), whose goal is to stimulate youth to engage in mission. For this, the largest stadium in Florida has been rented and the 58'000 people have filled it!
The slogan of this meeting: "the war on inaction has begun" - "the war against inaction has begun"!
The organizers are charismatic evangelical missions of the USA, such as Youth With A Mission (YWAM), The Call, Circuit Riders, Christ For All Nations, etc ...
"We experienced a very beautiful unity between movements involved in mission and evangelization," says O. Fleury.
He shares two highlights of this event. First, a speaker prayed for a "divine rain" on the assembly. Two minutes later, a light rain started that turned into a downpour when the band sang the song "Let it rain"!
"It was like a response from heaven to the pledge of the assembly. For those who where there it, it was very impactful".
Then, a leader from Youth With A Mission, Andy Bird, proposed to the assembly to make a symbolic act to attest to their commitment. He invited them to take off their shoes and hold up their shoes with arms stretched over their heads. Almost everyone had in one hand their shoes and in their other hand, their mobile phones to capture this moment!
What reflections does O. Fleury draw from this for JC2033?
“Firstly, it is gratifying to see that tens of thousands of new missionaries that are laying the groundwork for celebrating the 2000 years of Jesus' resurrection. The harvest is great and there are more and more workers ... In fact, it seems that throughout the history of the Church, there has never been more missionaries and this seems to be a growing trend for the years to come ".
It is also nice to see different ministries, once competing, now joining forces.
"JC2033 also wants to call to unite forces - not just between charismatic evangelicals, but between all churches and movements," he concludes.
