Meeting with students of theology of Fribourg

Invited by Benoît-Dominique de la Sougeole, professor (Dominican) of dogmatic theology at the University of Fribourg, Olivier Fleury was able to present the vision of JC2033 to 26 students.

In the introduction to this course devoted to ecumenism, Professor de la Sougeole said: "The approach of this movement is a beautiful practical illustration of what we want to study in ecumenical theology."

To begin and captivate his audience, Olivier told a very recent experience: "The other day, my whole family was present for the 80 years birthday of my mother-in-law. We were there for her, without stopping on our differences. Similarly, for the 2000 years of his resurrection, could we gather around Jesus Christ to celebrate and witness to Him, with all our differences? "

This question pleased them a lot. Students from diverse religious backgrounds were touched by the simplicity and strength of the words. Half of them would like to stay in touch with the JC2033 movement. During the fifteen minutes of dialogue, the questions kept flowing.

A student also asked the teacher how to build unity, while in some places the relationships between churches are hardly there?

The Dominican replied that the 13 years until 2033 will allow us to deepen the relationships between churches. The path is just as important as the goal.

At the end of the meeting, the students came to Olivier to ask him several other questions, so much so that the following course had to start 15 minutes late, with the agreement of the professor de la Sougeole, of course!
