Chronicles of Paris

In early June, a JC2033 team to visit various churches and communities in Paris. After five days of intense visits, we are grateful for all these encounters. We dream that this project will become that of the Churches of Paris and all of France. Here are some echoes of the welcome we received.

Chronicles of Paris I. Towards 2033 with the Protestant Churches. 

Having just arrived at the Gare de Lyon from Lausanne, we began our pilgrimage by visiting the House of Protestantism, rue de Clichy. Attending this meeting were the President of the Protestant Federation of France (FPF), François Clavairoly; Emmanuelle Seybold, President of the United Protestant Church (EPUdF); Anne-Laure Dannet, Head of Ecumenical Relations of the FPF and Claire Sixt-Gateuille, Head of Ecumenical Relations of the EPUdF.

Chronicles of Paris II. On the way to 2033 with the Catholic Church 

On the afternoon of 3rd June, the first day of our Paris journey, we cross Paris and go to the Avenue de Breteuil where the Conference of Bishops of France is located and visit Emmanuel Gougaud, Director of the National Service for Christian Unity .

It’s a pleasure to meet him again after the "French-speaking Christian Forum", in Paris, two weeks ago. I had already been struck by his warm welcome to this project.

Chronicles of Paris III. On the way to 2033 with the Orthodox Church 

The second day - 4th June - of our Parisi stay begins with two Orthodox visits. First we go to the Rue Daru where Bishop Jean de Charioupoulis awaits us in the Cathedral S. Alexander Nevsky.

I know him under his family name "Renneteau" as a priest of the Francophone Orthodox community in Geneva, before he was appointed head of the Archdiocese of the Russian Orthodox Churches in Western Europe.

Chronicles of Paris IV. Towards 2033 with communities and movements

In our travels, we also visit communities and movements and ask them for prayer without which nothing can be done!The first night - 3rd June - we are invited by the Xavières community in the Latin Quarter. A meal and evening prayer framed our presentation. Their founder, Claire de Monestes, has a strong sense of evangelization and Christian unity. She is inspired by the Ignatian spirituality which emphasizes fidelity to the Risen One who calls us to accompany her in her passion.
